Bath time at the Sant's House

All my kids love the bath! Here are some fun videos I have taken of the little girls and Spencer this month!

I love how he got them both to clap!

Grand kids

Elijah (7) Enoch (4) Spencer (4) Addy (3) Georgia (3) Helen (1) Allyson (10months) Haleigh (10months)

I really wanted a picture of all my parents grand kids together! The last time we were altogether Helen was a month old, no twins of course, and everyone else were much younger. I also really wanted them to be able to play with cousins that are so close in age to them. We write them letters and draw pictures so that they can stay in touch with them, but it isn't the same as being with them.

On the way back to Utah, we took a little bit of a longer way and stopped by their home. Our kids had so much fun together and I enjoyed all of their kids so much. It never dawned on me before, but as I write this I realized how well they got along. They played together as if they had been friends forever. Isn't it special to think that they were all in heaven together not so long ago?

I am truly grateful I had the opportunity to spend time with my brother and his sweet wife. Their children are so well behaved and such sweet kids. Enoch gave me and my babies more compliments then I have received in the last year! I wish more than anything else that they would grow up together. However, I am thankful that I was able to spend the little time we did with them and will cherish it for a very long time.

First Day of Preschool

Spencer and Addy started their first day of preschool on Thursday. They actually weren't supposed to start until the 12th, but I ended up changing things at the last minute and am really glad I did. Due to Clif's unemployment, the kids qualified for Head Start- a free preschool that meets 4 days a week for 31/2 hours a day. The preschool (because it is lower income) really focuses on their essentials- so they have them brush their teeth and breakfast and lunch are provided.  I don't know how much they learn academically, but I am sure it is a great program. After going to Addy's orientation and realizing that the Home Based program that she got into was definitively not going to work with having 4 little kids (not to mention I really don't need someone coming in each week to show me how to read and teach her), I started getting anxiety about the whole thing. I had signed up for the morning time because my friend's kids were also doing the morning and we were going to carpool. Well, turns out that the times are staggered and he was in the class that started 1/2 hour later than theirs. It worried me to no end, when neither Spencer nor I are really great morning people, on how I was going to get him dressed, and the kids out of the door and into the classroom by 8:30. I am not saying it isn't possible and I am sure some people think 8:30 is late, but for me with 4 little kids that depend on  me for everything, including putting their shoes on, it just became so daunting to me.

So my mom said she would pay for Addy and Spencer to go back to Ms. Annette's and I can't tell you how much stress that took off of me and how excited they both were! Yeah, for Ms. Annette and taking us at the last minute. So they missed the first day, but had no problem going when I dropped them off. Spencer showed Addy the way and off went my 2 little kids! I really was so excited for them to be in school, that it wasn't sad at all, but as I right this is does make me sad to think how fast they are growing up. As always, don't we wish time could just stand still! They had a great first day, Spencer liked the girl in the purple shirt and Addy liked the girl with the black skirt. They told me they read a book about liking themselves which must have rubbed off because that night during prayers, Spencer was thankful for himself!
The only crazy thing about the whole day was I was going to do Addy's hair like I did in the previous posts with the twists. It was easy and didn't take long. I forgot you put ponytails in at each end first and it ended up in a crazy twist that was not working. By the time I tried it again, it wasn't working either for like an hour or more later we had 5 minutes to eat and take pictures of them! Which is crazy when I had all of them bathed and dressed by like 8:00! Oh, well, what is a mother to do!

9 months

Haleigh and Allyson will be 11 months next Thursday, but they did have their 9 month appointment in July. While newborns are so special and small and cute, I just love the 6-12 month stage. They are so fun and I love to watch them learn new things. Though as I write this, I really miss my little babies. I also could argue good points for all the stages...granted I haven't had to deal with a 16 year old yet!

I came across this picture the other day....
but this is what really gets me. They were so so little...I wish I could have paused this time for a little longer.

Haleigh: 13.6lbs <5%
            24 in. <5%
  Allyson: 15.2 lbs 5%
              24 1/4 in. <5%

This was the first time they weren't the exact same height, though 1/4 of an inch isn't a very big difference. Both of their heads measured at 43 1/2cm (30%), which surprised me because I always thought Allyson's was bigger. I decided to measure and I got 43cm for Haleigh and 44 for Allyson and I am guessing she does at better job at accuracy than me, so they probably are the same, if not really close.

At 9 months Addy weighed 17.2lbs and was 26in. and she has always been such a small little girl. So it will be interesting to see if they will eventually catch-up to her or if they are always going to be small. While I was looking up Addy's information it was funny because a lot of what I wrote about her pertained to Allyson. I was writing about how Spencer at this age was already crawling and moving along edges. Then I said, " I am not really worried, but am hoping she will start to get moving soon. She definitely likes to do things at her own pace. She rolls everywhere and gets into the crawling position, but usually just scoots backwards. She also can stand for a few minutes, but doesn't really enjoy holding onto to other objects. She has a really happy personality and shakes her head at things she doesn't like."
Haeligh started crawling at 9 1/2 months, but Allyson on the other hand would either roll everywhere or crawl backwards. She would often end up under the couch or bed (poor girl)! Allyson also started shaking her head at 9 months as well.Clif and I were even saying it reminded us of Addy and then I saw that post. Allyson also always tends to shaker her head at the perfect time. "It's time for bed kiddos." Then she would shake her head. (As Clif just said, pretty much anything you could answer with yes or no.) She sure is a funny one that girl is! At about 10 months Haleigh started shaking her head as well. the only difference is she also shakes it when she doesn't want certain foods or is done.
Haleigh rolled and crawled first and has been dubbed the "walker." While Allyson said mamma first, babbles a lot, and has been dubbed the "talker." Allyson is also much more social in public, she always will smile back if someone talks to her while Haleigh is a little more hesitant. They both are normal babies with the typical good and bad days. Allyson was always much more needy of my attention, but Haleigh got pretty sick and I had to hold her for a few days. Allyson would never have allowed that before, but did really well and now Haleigh prefers me over her daddy. They also both got their bottom 2 teeth towards the end of July (I can't tell the exact date because one of my picture folders got deleted by accident...such a sad day for me). They now have their top 2 front teeth coming in and a few side ones on the way. Allyson's 1 top tooth has popped through and it doesn't look very comfortable!

One of the most common questions I get is how do you tell them apart? I always tell them ways that other people can tell them apart. Allyson is a little bigger, had more hair and had purple earrings. Haleigh is smaller, less hair, and wears pink earrings. I then of course explain, that their different personalities and just being their mom is how I tell them apart. It will be interesting to see if there will ever come a day where they will trick me. I really doubt it though since I could tell my best friend's (twins) voices apart on the phone.
My favorite thing to do with them is play patty cake and when they will lay on my chest and cuddle. All of my kids are so special to me and the twins are no different. They came to our family during such a hard time in our lives and blessed this family with their spirits. They truly make our family complete. (Even if it isn't quite completed yet).

Allyson: Curious one.

Haleigh: Loves to stick out her tongue.
Together: It is such a joy to watch them interact, while at the same time they are almost oblivious of each other. I am sure they will be the best of friends and the worst of friends!
