We have had some new things happen in the last while that I haven't gotten around to posting about.
Addy:
When Addy was about 16 months old she got into Spencer's toddler bed, all on her own, and went to sleep... and that was that! Spencer had recently decided to sleep in the full size bed and it was just sitting there empty. Boy did she make that easy for us! Spencer was 16 months when Addy was born and we had to buy another crib because there was no way I thought he would be ready for a toddler bed. I guess Addy wanted to show us that she would have been ready!
Here she is in November 2009. You can see the bottles in the picture!
In October we were able to put her in a twin bed. We were finally able to use the bed set my mom got her for her birthday in June.
Oh she is too cute!
Addy also stopped taking her binky within a week! I had prepared myself for a fight because I had heard it could be really hard. At this point we only allowed her to have them at naps and night time. One night I explained to her that we were going to take them away to get them ready for the babies. She started crying and screaming. I then remembered that she wanted a tea set, so I told her if she went the whole week without a binky I would buy it for her. She stopped crying and once again that was that!
Here she is showing off her new tea set.
The only hard thing about taking the binky away was it settled her down during nap time. Before the twins I would sleep with her and Spencer and we would all take a nap, but I no long have the luxury of doing that. Spencer also doesn't really need a nap now and so she doesn't want one. We fixed the problem at night by having her fall asleep in our bed. That way she can take the time she needs to clam down without disrupting Spencer...otherwise they feed off of each other and never go to sleep.
One day I really needed a nap and she wouldn't settle down so I reverted back and stuck the binky in her mouth. She literally fell asleep in 1 minute. I was going to take the binky away once she feel asleep, but she has her hand covering it, holding in, as if to say, "Don't you dare touch my binky." Thank goodness my weakness didn't set her back any and she didn't ask for it again. She also does really well with the babies. She always put the binky in their mouths and has never put them in her. That is really amazing since we only took them from her a few weeks before the babies came. She has just adjusted to everything so quickly and has completely spoiled us! She really is such a blessing!
This is what happens wen you say you aren't tired, but you really are. She was sitting in her princess chair and fell asleep. Then some time later this is how we found her. Doesn't look too comfortable!
She got her hair cut short on November 29th. Her hair is so thin and it is really hard to manage, especially when I am busy with all the kids. I finally decided we would cut it into a longer a-line. It ended up being shorter than I expected, but I absoultely love it now. As Spencer says, "She is cute and fashionable" (I have no idea where he learned that)!
She also has learned a lot from her big brother. I try to teach her, but she isn't interested like Spencer was. Here she is singing the ABC's. I love it!
Spencer:
Since I found out I was pregnant with the twins, we knew we would need to get Spencer back into his bed and sleeping. He would go to sleep in his big bed, but then would always come in the middle of the night and sleep on the cot on our floor or we would have to go and take him back into bed several times during the night. We were able to do a combination of things to get him sleeping in his bed.
The first thing we did was take him to the doctor to see what could be causing him to wake up. He said it sounded like night terrors were waking him and he gave us an idea that worked really well. We put apple juice in an old medicine bottle and told him it was his dream medicine. He took it every night before he went to bed. The "dream medicine" helped so much. He went from waking up 10-12 times to only 2-3. I then created a sleeping fairy who would leave them treats, but only if they slept in their bed the whole night. If they didn't the sleeping fairy couldn't come because she couldn't risk being seen!
We also told him that if he slept in his bed for the whole night then we would get him a bigger bike. This was very important since the twins were coming and we knew we would need the energy to get up with them. He has been playing with our next door neighbor a lot and he really wanted a big like hers so that worked really well. Finally, just recently, we were able to not have to lay down with him anymore. The fairy wrote and said she would know longer come if they didn't go to sleep on their own. So they had to choose us or the fairy. That helped give us about 30 minutes- to an hour of extra time each night! I am happy to report the fairy left them each a little gift and has gone on to kids who are having trouble sleeping! Yeah for not having to remember to put out a candy each night!

Here he is riding his bike. He loves to ride really fast and then slam on his brakes right before he hits the object. He also likes to turn aroun and around really quick. I think by this summer he will be without the training wheels.
Spencer also started Sunbeams on Sunday. He was so nervous for this and kept asking me throughout sacrament if he had to go. I tried to reassure him that it would be okay, but he is so like me, and does not do well with change. I never really realized how much he was like me until we were walking to the primary room and was biting his nails. The good thing is, just like me, once he realized it would be okay, then he was okay. He sat in the big kid chairs by his friend Isaac. I checked on him a few times and he seemed to be doing well. He was really happy after church and made this cute picture of our family. Yeah for having our first child in primary! It is so exciting!
He drew his family on his own!
Haleigh and Allyson:
I have a lot to write about them and I plan to very soon. In the mean time I thought I would at least share a few new things that they have done as well.
They got their ears pierced on December 8th, after their 2 month appointment. We did Haleigh's pink and Allyson's purple. It wasn't my favorite thing to do, but now that they are done I love them! It also helps others tell them apart, which is getting much harder to do.
Close up shot of their earrings.
Awake Haleigh
Asleep Allyson
They also have been smiling. Allyson at me the day before their blessing (Dec. 3rd). Haleigh smiled for my mom on their blessing day. Then, no matter what we did, we couldn't get them to smile for about another week. Now they smile without us doing anything, but if we want it for the camera I have to do A LOT of baby talk! It sure is worth it though!
Haleigh is the top two and Allyson the bottom
